chad Emory ShoresChad Shores graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Lee University, Cleveland, TN. His professors at Lee University described him as: "Responsible, personable, conscientious, having a wonderful sense of humor, a keen desire to research and learn, and a capacity to think critically." Chad has been a member of Lee University's prestigious honors program for his entire tenure at Lee and a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the national historical honor society.

After meeting alumni and professors during a National Preservation Conference in St. Paul, MN, the desire to attend Columbia University School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation was realized.
Chad met his beautiful wife, Hope, at Lee when they were students in the same French Class. Hope has two strong primary interests; the publishing industry and the fashion industry. Hope currently works full-time as a copy writer for a media company in Chattanooga and hopes to continue her career in publishing in New York. She also maintains a fashion blog and works part-time at a Fossil Clothing store. Hope has provided an incredible amount of support for Chad's future career in preservation by providing encouragement as Chad attended workshops and conferences to meet preservationists working in the field. Chad and Hope are the proud parents of a Basset Hound named Eleanor. The Shores are very excited about the next chapter of lives and are ready to seize this opportunity that they have received!

Chad's message to The Questers': "I feel quite honored to be selected as the 37th Columbia University GSAPP Scholar. This is an incredible opportunity for me, as it has been for the 36 Columbia University GSAPP Scholars who have come before me. I look forward to my future involvement with The Questers, whose support will allow me to attend one of the finest Historic Preservation programs in the world. I am so grateful to have been selected for this scholarship, and I look forward to meeting members of the Questers in the future."
